The Idumban Temple, a noteworthy place in history since the time of Sage Agastya, is located on the Idumban Hills. According to legends the sage ordered his assistant Idumban to take the two hills Sivagiri and Shaktigiri to his abode in India.
Thiruvaavinankudi Temple is also known by the name of Kulanthai Velayuthaswamy Temple. The temple is one of the oldest in the region and is believed to be the abode of Lord Murugan. The shrine, located at the foot of the hill Tiru Avinankudi, is one of the three Padai-Vîdu mentioned in songs and legend.
